Hey guys, it's the Slowstack, and why does this movie have so much hate!? This movie wasn't half bad! The plot is that Predators drop Xenomorph eggs, on planets. Once the eggs hatch, and infest the planet, the Predators go back to the planet, for a sort of hunting retreat. Our main character is sent to a temple (where the egg was dropped off), in the middle of the Antarctic, to see what is there. Eventually the predator just accept that Xenomorphs are bad, and team up with a human, to kill of the queen. Now that I've talked about the plot, here's my opinion. Sure the acting was fairly poor, the character were all just hollow, but the fight scenes aren't too bad. I mean, the shaky camera was pretty bad, but the fight scenes you can see, isn't bad at all. The team up between human and predator is AWESOME our protagonist, has a Xenomorph tail as a spear, and the hollow head as a shield! I think that is AMAZING! Like, I cannot express how cool that is! Anyway, the queen wakes up, and tries to kill the predator and our protagonist. Of course the queen doesn't get either of them, because of PLOT ARMOR! Once they escape the queen, the Predator marks our protagonist, to show that she is an ally. After the Predators leave, one Predator, was impregnated with a chest burster. This is where the movie ends. Now, This movie has a couple of plot holes, like: If the Predators leave Xenomorphs, to kill them off, then why did they team up with a human; why did the queen try to kill the Predator if he had a chest burster. Obviously, these are never explained, but it still kinda ruins the movie. I think the movie isn't too great, but isn't too bad either. I would give it a 5/10.

Hey guys, Drew here, I just wanted to apologize and say that the Top 10 List today will be postponed until tomorrow. I had some things come up today and I simply didn't have the time to finish it. I'm very close to completing it and it will be released tomorrow, a day late. Thank you for understanding.
The recently released Stephen King adaptation IT has gained a lot of attention, along with a handful of mixed reviews and different opinions about the movie. A lot of people loved it, a lot of people did not.
IT was marketed as the scariest movie of the year, with a creepy clown stalking children in the many teasers. A lot of people had very high expectations for this movie, especially since the original miniseries was a cult classic infamous for giving millions of children a newfound fear of clowns. There was a large amount of nostalgia rushing over everyone after the trailer for the brand spankin' new version of IT was released- and with that a lot of hype. Even the ensemble cast of child actors seemed promising, having included Finn Wolfhard from the breakout hit Netflix show Stranger Things. There seemed to be very little fault in the trailers for this movie. After watching the movie, I have my very own set of opinions about it. I can kind of understand why people didn't like it, they were expecting non-stop, all-out horror for every second of this movie due to the waves of people praising it as being terrifying. A lot of people overhyped this movie for themselves before watching it, and had expectations that I doubt any movie could ever possibly reach. Rather than being a run-of-the-mill jump scare overload, IT provided a fair amount of psychological horror alongside some pretty good jump scares. There was a lot more to this movie then making you leap out of your seat. IT was more about preying on your own fears, and slowly creeping you out with psychological horror and disturbing imagery. The lighting and cinematography in this movie were awesome and conveyed this mindset incredibly well. IT was genuinely scary. Did it make me leap out of my seat onto the floor and start screaming and crying, no, it didn't. Did it creep me out with nightmare-fuel disturbing imagery and psychological horror-yes, and I'll take a movie like that over most modern horror movies nowadays in a second. There was more to this movie then horror, there was a coming-of-age story done extremely well. All of the child actors did an amazing job, and provided very memorable roles, except for maybe two characters who didn't have as much screen time as anyone else. Even lacking screen time, these kids still did an awesome job and I still remember them for different reasons. There was great chemistry between each of the child actors, also they were hilarious. If this movie doesn't scare you, it will make you laugh for sure and still provide a memorable coming-of-age story. The movie captures the essence of the book while still remaining enjoyable to different people for different reasons. That is hard to pull of, and earns respect from me for the director and studio behind IT. My final conclusion is that IT was an amazing movie for everyone, and my personal favorite Stephen King film adaptation even above The Shining. I wanted to watch IT all over again after the credits rolled, and that's saying something. Try not to have unrealistic expectations when going to watch this movie, because you're ruining it for yourself and everyone else. Seriously, it angers me that people dismiss this movie for "not being scary enough." RATING: 10/10 (BEST MOVIE OF 2017 SO FAR) |
